Oppo has reintroduced the A59 name with a brand-new smartphone, diverging significantly from its 2016 predecessor. This latest A59 iteration is now officially launched in India, shedding light on its core specifications revealed a few days earlier.
Fueled by MediaTek's robust Dimensity 6020 chipset, the A59 offers two variants: one with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage at INR 14,999, and another with 6GB RAM priced at INR 16,999. Both variants are set for release on December 25 and will be accessible through Oppo's online store, Flipkart, and Amazon.
Boasting a 6.56-inch 720x1,612 LCD display with a 90 Hz refresh rate and a waterdrop notch, the A59 delivers vivid visuals with a peak brightness of 720 nits. Additional features include microSD card support, dual-SIM capabilities, and a versatile camera setup - a 13 MP rear camera, a 2 MP depth sensor, and an 8 MP selfie shooter. The device also integrates a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, and a robust 5,000 mAh battery supporting 33W SuperVOOC fast wired charging.
Running on Android 13 with ColorOS 13.1, the A59 is IP54 certified for dust and splash resistance. Oppo asserts the device's durability, having passed its "rigorous 36-month fluency test", ensuring sustained performance over time.
