Xiaomi is gearing up to strengthen its budget smartphone lineup in India with the upcoming POCO M8. The brand has officially started teasing the device, and early details suggest that POCO is aiming to offer a strong mix of performance, display quality, and long-term software support at an affordable price point. With a Flipkart landing page now live, several key specifications of the POCO M8 have been confirmed ahead of its India launch.
The POCO M8 is expected to feature a large 6.77-inch curved AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. A 120Hz refresh rate is also confirmed, ensuring smooth scrolling, fluid animations, and an improved gaming experience. The curved panel adds a premium touch, which is still relatively rare in the budget category.
In terms of design, POCO appears to be focusing on a slim and stylish profile. The phone is said to be just 7.35mm thick and will come with a dual-tone finish on the back, giving it a distinctive look. Additionally, the device may carry either an IP65 or IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, further enhancing its durability.
At the core of the POCO M8 sits the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, a chipset designed to deliver solid everyday performance while keeping power efficiency in check. According to POCO, the device has crossed the 825,000 mark on the AnTuTu benchmark, which is impressive for a phone expected to sit in the budget to mid-range segment.
The smartphone will come with 8GB of physical RAM, and users will also have access to an additional 8GB of virtual RAM, effectively allowing the device to operate with up to 16GB of memory when required. This should help with smoother multitasking, faster app switching, and better overall system responsiveness.
On the photography front, the POCO M8 will feature a dual rear camera setup led by a 50MP primary sensor. While details about the secondary camera are still limited, the primary sensor is expected to handle everyday photography with decent clarity and color reproduction. For selfies and video calls, the phone will house a 20MP front-facing camera, which should be more than sufficient for social media and casual use.
Out of the box, the POCO M8 will run on Android 15 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2 custom skin. While it does not ship with the newer HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, POCO has confirmed a strong update policy. The device is promised to receive four years of Android OS updates and six years of security patches. This means users can expect the HyperOS 3 update to arrive sometime after the phone’s India launch, making it a future-ready option in its segment.
Powering the POCO M8 is a sizable 5,520mAh battery, which should comfortably last a full day or more with moderate to heavy usage. To complement the large battery, POCO is expected to include 45W wired fast charging support, allowing users to quickly top up the device and get back to using it without long wait times.
Based on the confirmed specifications, the POCO M8 is shaping up to be a well-rounded smartphone for Indian consumers looking for performance, a high-quality display, and long-term software support without stretching their budget. With the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, AMOLED display, large battery, and a solid update promise, the POCO M8 could become a strong contender in the affordable smartphone market once it officially launches in India.
More details regarding pricing and availability are expected to be revealed soon as POCO continues its teaser campaign.
