Nubia’s gaming-centric RedMagic brand has officially unveiled the RedMagic 11 Air, a smartphone designed for serious mobile gamers who want top-tier performance without an overly bulky form factor. Staying true to RedMagic’s identity, the new device focuses heavily on raw power, advanced cooling, and gamer-focused features, while introducing a relatively slimmer profile compared to previous RedMagic phones. With a transparent design, active cooling fan, and the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, the RedMagic 11 Air aims to set a new benchmark in the premium gaming smartphone segment.

The RedMagic 11 Air continues the brand’s iconic transparent design language, allowing visible internal elements on the rear panel. According to RedMagic, the back design draws inspiration from vinyl records, racing tracks, and geometric art, giving the phone a bold and futuristic look. An RGB-lit active cooling fan sits prominently on the back, reinforcing its gaming-first identity.
On the front, the device features a large 6.85-inch AMOLED display with a sharp 1.5K resolution and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. RedMagic refers to it as a “true full screen” experience, thanks to the under-display 16MP front camera that eliminates notches or punch-holes. The display also supports 2592Hz high-frequency PWM dimming along with DC dimming, helping reduce eye strain during long gaming sessions. Ultra-thin 1.25mm bezels and a 95.1 percent screen-to-body ratio further enhance immersion.
At the core of the RedMagic 11 Air is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with RedMagic’s in-house Redcore R4 gaming chip. This combination is designed to deliver consistent high frame rates, even during demanding gaming sessions. The phone comes with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, ensuring fast app loading times and smooth multitasking.
RedMagic has also integrated its self-developed CUBE Sky Engine, which focuses on performance optimization and stability. The company claims that the RedMagic 11 Air delivers more stable frame rates than competing devices powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset, particularly in graphically intensive games. Many popular titles are supported at 144Hz, giving gamers a clear advantage in fast-paced gameplay.
The RedMagic 11 Air runs on REDMAGIC OS 11.0, which is tailored specifically for gaming performance and customization. Alongside standard gaming tools, the phone introduces a range of AI-powered features, including image search, real-time translation, and object recognition.
One of the standout additions is the AI tactical coach, which can provide gameplay tips and suggestions in real time. This feature is aimed at helping players improve their skills and make better in-game decisions while playing.
Cooling has always been a major focus for RedMagic, and the 11 Air takes it a step further. The phone uses a complex thermal management system that includes an aerospace-grade aluminum bracket, graphene copper foil, and a 4D vapor chamber. This is combined with a built-in fan and a dual-track cooling system designed to efficiently dissipate heat during extended gaming sessions.
For competitive gaming, the RedMagic 11 Air includes professional shoulder trigger buttons with a 520Hz touch sampling rate. These triggers provide quicker response times and better control, especially in shooter and action games where precision matters.
Despite its relatively slim profile, the RedMagic 11 Air packs a massive 7,000mAh battery. This large battery capacity ensures long gaming sessions without frequent charging breaks. The device supports 120W wired fast charging, allowing users to quickly top up the battery when needed.
It also includes bypass charging, a feature particularly useful for gamers. This allows the phone to draw power directly from the charger during gameplay, reducing heat buildup and minimizing battery wear over time.
The RedMagic 11 Air measures 7.85mm in thickness. While the “Air” branding may suggest an ultra-slim device, RedMagic claims it is currently the thinnest smartphone in the industry to feature a built-in cooling fan.
In terms of colors, the phone launches in Quantum Black and Stardust White, with an Aurora Silver variant scheduled to arrive in March. Pricing starts at 3,699 yuan (around $530) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model, while the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant is priced at 4,399 yuan (approximately $631).
The RedMagic 11 Air is a clear statement from Nubia that mobile gaming performance does not have to come at the cost of design or usability. With its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, advanced cooling system, high-refresh-rate AMOLED display, and gamer-focused features like shoulder triggers and bypass charging, it stands out as a powerful gaming smartphone. While it may not be the slimmest phone overall, it strikes an impressive balance between performance, cooling, and design, making it a strong contender for gamers looking for a premium, no-compromise experience.
