ASUS has partnered with XREAL to introduce the ROG XREAL R1, a new pair of augmented reality gaming glasses designed to bring a truly portable large-screen gaming experience to players across PCs, consoles, and handheld devices like the ROG Ally. Unveiled as a global first, the ROG XREAL R1 stand out as the world’s first AR glasses to feature a 240Hz micro-OLED Full HD display, placing them firmly in the premium segment for gamers who demand ultra-smooth visuals and minimal latency.
With this launch, ASUS and XREAL are pushing the boundaries of wearable gaming displays, blending high refresh rates, spatial computing, and lightweight design into a compact form factor built for serious gaming on the move.
The ROG XREAL R1 are built around the idea of replacing traditional monitors with a wearable virtual screen that can travel anywhere. When connected to a compatible device, the glasses project a virtual display equivalent to up to 171 inches, viewed from a distance of around four metres. This allows users to enjoy an immersive big-screen experience without carrying bulky hardware.

At the core of the ROG XREAL R1 is a Sony 0.55-inch micro-OLED panel with a Full HD resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. What truly sets it apart is its industry-first 240Hz refresh rate, delivering exceptionally smooth motion and reducing blur during fast-paced gameplay.
The display offers a 57-degree field of view, a peak brightness of up to 700 nits, and coverage of 107 percent of the sRGB color gamut. Combined with an ultra-low motion-to-photon latency of as little as 2 to 3 milliseconds, the glasses are clearly aimed at competitive gamers who prioritise responsiveness and visual precision.
The ROG XREAL R1 are powered by XREAL’s dedicated X1 spatial computing chip, which enables advanced control over the virtual display. Users can adjust the size and distance of the projected screen to suit different environments, whether gaming at a desk or relaxing on the couch.
The glasses support native 3 Degrees of Freedom tracking, with optional 6 DoF support for more advanced spatial experiences. An Anchor Mode is also included, allowing the virtual screen to remain locked in a fixed physical position, enhancing immersion and usability during extended sessions.
ASUS and XREAL have equipped the ROG XREAL R1 with XREAL’s proprietary X-Prism Optical Engine, designed to improve clarity and visual consistency across the display. The dock features two HDMI 2.0 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 input, with a USB-C output to the glasses. It supports video output up to 4K at 60Hz and allows seamless switching between multiple devices. Despite its functionality, the dock remains relatively compact, weighing around 230 grams.
Weighing approximately 91 grams, the ROG XREAL R1 are designed to be light enough for extended wear without discomfort. The balanced weight distribution and streamlined design make them suitable for long gaming sessions, productivity use, or media consumption while travelling.
ASUS has confirmed that the ROG XREAL R1 AR gaming glasses are expected to ship globally in the first half of 2026. At the time of announcement, official pricing has not yet been revealed.
