DJI has officially introduced the Osmo Action 6 in China, giving enthusiasts an early look before its global release scheduled for November 18. This new model steps in as the successor to last year’s Osmo Action 5 Pro, retaining the rugged versatility the series is known for while bringing meaningful upgrades to the core imaging hardware. Despite maintaining a familiar design and the same 1,950 mAh (7.5 Wh) battery, the Osmo Action 6 aims to deliver improved clarity, higher dynamic range, and better low-light performance, thanks to its larger sensor and variable aperture system.
With a focus on providing more control to creators and adventurers, the camera arrives with enhanced screens, updated recording capabilities, and dedicated combo kits tailored to different activities. For users in China, the Osmo Action 6 is already available, while global availability is expected soon.
The most significant upgrade comes from the new 1/1.1-inch CMOS sensor, replacing the 1/1.3-inch unit used in the previous generation. This larger sensor captures more light and supports a dynamic range of up to 13.5 EV, allowing for richer details in both bright and shadowed areas. DJI has also retained the wide 155-degree field of view, giving creators a sweeping perspective ideal for action footage.
A new variable aperture system ranging from f/2.0 to f/4.0 introduces added versatility. Users can now adapt the lens opening based on lighting conditions, improving exposure control and reducing overblown highlights during daytime shoots.
The Osmo Action 6 continues with its dual-screen design, offering a 1.46-inch OLED display on the front and a larger 2.5-inch OLED panel at the rear. Both screens support up to 800 nits of brightness, ensuring better visibility even in harsh outdoor lighting. This makes framing, reviewing footage, and navigating settings more convenient while on the move.
DJI has refined the camera’s recording capabilities, enabling creators to shoot 4K video at 60 fps in a square 1:1 format—ideal for social media platforms. For slow-motion enthusiasts, the camera supports 4K recording at 120 fps in a 16:9 aspect ratio. When capturing still images, the Osmo Action 6 delivers up to 38-megapixel photos, offering sharp results suitable for landscapes, sports moments, and travel photography.
Although the Osmo Action 6 uses the same battery as the Action 5 Pro, DJI claims up to 240 minutes of total usage on a full charge. For continuous 4K recording, the camera is rated for 52 minutes, which is slightly lower than the previous generation by about one minute. Despite this minor difference, the overall endurance remains strong for an action camera in this segment.
DJI has launched the Osmo Action 6 in China at a starting price of CNY 2,998. The base package includes the camera, one battery, and essential accessories. For users with specific needs, DJI is also offering combo bundles such as biking, snorkeling, and multi-activity kits that include mounts, protective cases, and other add-ons.
As of now, DJI has not confirmed international pricing. More details are expected to be shared around the global launch date.
The DJI Osmo Action 6 refines the action camera experience by focusing on meaningful enhancements rather than cosmetic changes. With a larger sensor, variable aperture, improved displays, and strong recording features, it stands out as a compelling choice for creators seeking high-quality footage in a compact, durable design. The camera’s China-first release sets the stage for a broader global launch, where it is expected to attract both new users and existing DJI enthusiasts.
