Flipkart has officially launched its latest subscription service in India, called Flipkart Black, designed to enhance the customer rewards ecosystem by combining shopping perks, entertainment access, and travel benefits into a single membership. Positioned as a premium upgrade over existing loyalty programs, Flipkart Black aims to compete with rival e-commerce subscription services while offering more value to its users.
One of the biggest highlights of Flipkart Black is the complimentary YouTube Premium subscription worth Rs. 1,490. Members can enjoy ad-free videos, offline downloads, and background playback for one year, linked to a single YouTube account.
On the shopping side, Flipkart Black subscribers receive 5% SuperCoins cashback, up to Rs. 100, on purchases made through Flipkart and Flipkart Minutes. Members can earn as many as 800 SuperCoins per month, which can be redeemed later as discounts or cashback. Additionally, there’s an extra 5% discount on SuperCoins transactions, capped at Rs. 1,000.
The subscription also offers priority customer support, early access to Flipkart sales events, and exclusive deals on premium electronics, further sweetening the deal for frequent shoppers.
Beyond shopping and entertainment, Flipkart Black also caters to travel enthusiasts. Subscribers can take advantage of Cleartrip flight cancellation and rescheduling services for just Re. 1, adding an extra layer of convenience to travel planning.
Flipkart has priced the Black membership at Rs. 1,499 per year, but is currently offering it at an introductory price of Rs. 990 annually. While it costs more than the earlier Flipkart VIP plan (Rs. 799/year), it also delivers broader perks, especially with the inclusion of YouTube Premium and enhanced cashback offers.
Flipkart Black is a paid membership, while Flipkart Plus continues as a free, tier-based loyalty program where users qualify for benefits by completing at least four purchases annually. Plus members still earn SuperCoins cashback, but the Black membership broadens the scope with entertainment and travel rewards.
However, Flipkart has clarified that the Black membership is non-refundable and non-cancellable, making it important for users to weigh the value of its benefits before signing up.
With Flipkart Black, the company is taking a bold step toward bundling shopping, entertainment, and travel into one ecosystem. The inclusion of YouTube Premium, exclusive deals, and priority services positions the plan as a strong alternative to free loyalty programs, while also giving Flipkart a competitive edge against rivals in India’s growing e-commerce subscription market.
