Nothing has officially stepped into the over-ear audio game—and it’s making noise in more ways than one. At the July 1 launch event in London, the brand unveiled its first-ever full-sized audio product: Headphone (1). With its signature transparent design, audiophile-grade tuning by KEF, and competitive pricing at ₹19,999, Nothing’s debut over-ear headphones are already making waves in the premium wireless audio space.
Nothing has carved out a niche in consumer tech with its futuristic, see-through designs—and the Headphone (1) stays true to that identity. The headphones feature a squircle-shaped earcup design, semi-transparent casings that subtly expose internal components, and a lightweight aluminum frame that blends durability with minimalism.
Weighing in at 329 grams, they’re slightly heavier than the Sony WH-1000XM6 but feel premium in hand. Comfort is aided by memory foam cushions wrapped in oil-resistant PU leather, though early testers noted a slight tendency to shift during movement—something to keep in mind for on-the-go listeners.
In a surprise collaboration, Nothing partnered with British audio specialist KEF to tune the Headphone (1), and the results sound promising. Key audio features include:
Initial impressions suggest the sound profile leans bass-forward, a likely crowd-pleaser for mainstream music lovers while still offering room for fine-tuning.
Nothing isn’t just going for style—it's also focused on substance. The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is reportedly effective at cutting out low-frequency and ambient noise, while the Transparency Mode offers a natural passthrough of external sound when needed.
With ANC on, users can expect a battery life of around 35 hours. Turn it off, and that jumps to a staggering 80 hours of playback—a serious edge in the battery department. If you're in a rush, a 5-minute charge gives up to 2.4 hours of playtime with ANC, or 5 hours without.
Another standout feature is the tactile roller built into the earcup. This lets users control volume, playback, and track skipping with a satisfying physical input, a welcome change from unreliable touchpads.
There's also a dedicated button for activating voice assistants, fully customizable via the Nothing X app. That’s where users can access the 8-band EQ, update firmware, and fine-tune settings for a more personalized experience.
The Nothing Headphone (1) is priced at ₹19,999 in India, with early discounts expected during the launch phase. Pre-orders open on July 4, with full retail availability starting July 15 via Flipkart and select offline stores.
With this launch, Nothing clearly has its sights set on heavyweights like the Sony WH-1000XM6 and Apple AirPods Max. While real-world reviews will determine how well it stacks up, early impressions suggest that Headphone (1) delivers an enticing mix of style, sound, and staying power.
Nothing’s first over-ear headphones make a bold statement—both visually and sonically. With KEF-tuned audio, a transparent premium design, long battery life, and modern features like spatial audio and ANC, the Headphone (1) is a promising new player in the premium headphone segment.
Whether you’re a casual listener or an audio enthusiast, this might just be the bold alternative you’ve been waiting for. In related news Nothing Phone (3) Officially Launched with Glyph Matrix, AMOLED Display & Triple 50MP Cameras.
