Portronics has expanded its power-solution lineup with the introduction of its new Lithius Cell series, a collection of USB-C rechargeable lithium-ion batteries designed to reduce dependency on disposable cells. Available in both AA and AAA formats, the Lithius Cell range focuses on convenience, sustainability, and long-term usability for everyday devices.
With universal USB Type-C charging, reinforced construction, and intelligent safety layers, these batteries aim to serve as a modern upgrade over traditional alkaline options commonly used in household gadgets.
The Lithius Cell series brings thoughtful engineering to the table, integrating features that cater to the needs of both high-drain and low-drain devices.
Each battery includes a built-in USB Type-C port, eliminating the need for external chargers or proprietary docks. Users can recharge the cells with any regular USB-C cable, making the process far more accessible than dealing with bulky charging stations.
The batteries deliver a stable 1.5V output, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of gadgets such as TV remotes, gaming controllers, digital cameras, wireless keyboards, battery-powered toys, wall clocks, and even basic medical instruments. This consistent voltage helps devices operate smoothly without performance dips.
Portronics equips each battery with intuitive LED indicators. During charging, the LED blinks blue, and once fully charged, the light turns solid. This simple visual cue removes guesswork and makes monitoring charging status easier.
The Lithius Cell batteries are built with a durable outer shell designed to handle pressure and prevent leakage. Internally, the batteries incorporate multiple protection layers that defend against overheating, short circuits, overvoltage, overdischarge, and sudden power surges.
Portronics has launched two variants tailored for different use cases:
AA Variant – 1480mAh (2220mWh)
The AA Lithius Cell supports DC 5V/0.5A input and DC 1.5V/2A output. Its higher capacity makes it suitable for gadgets that require sustained power over longer periods, especially high-drain electronics such as gaming controllers, wireless devices, and cameras.
AAA Variant – 440mAh (666mWh)
The AAA Lithius Cell supports DC 5V/0.1A input and DC 1.5V/1.5A output. This version is ideal for compact devices like remotes, clocks, small toys, and other low-to-medium drain gadgets.
Both variants use low self-discharge technology, allowing them to retain nearly 80% of their charge even after extended periods of inactivity. This significantly enhances longevity, reduces waste, and supports a more sustainable usage pattern over traditional single-use batteries.
Portronics has priced the Lithius Cell AAA twin-pack at ₹499, while the AA twin-pack comes at ₹449. The batteries are available for purchase via the company’s official website, leading e-commerce platforms, and select offline retail stores across India.
Both the AA and AAA models come with a six-month warranty, offering users additional assurance about performance and reliability.
