Xiaomi has expanded its affordable smartphone lineup with the launch of the Redmi 15R 5G in China. Introduced through the company’s official online mall, the device combines a slim profile with a massive battery and essential features designed to appeal to budget-conscious users.
The Redmi 15R 5G has been crafted with a focus on both style and practicality. Despite packing a large 6000mAh battery, the phone is surprisingly slim at 7.99mm and weighs 205 grams, which makes it easier to carry compared to other big-battery smartphones. Buyers can pick from four elegant finishes — Cloud White, Lime Green, Twilight Purple, and Star Rock Black.
On the front, the device features a 6.9-inch display with a waterdrop notch. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and gaming, while 810 nits peak brightness ensures decent outdoor visibility. Another handy addition is Wet Touch 2.0, which allows the screen to respond even when fingers are damp.
At the core of the Redmi 15R 5G is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, built on a 6nm process. This processor is designed to handle everyday tasks smoothly, and Xiaomi goes a step further by claiming the phone can deliver consistent performance for up to 48 months. While such long-term promises depend on usage, the hardware certainly positions it as a capable budget 5G phone.
The camera setup on the Redmi 15R 5G is straightforward, featuring a 13MP rear sensor. It supports HDR and comes with basic scene optimization, allowing users to capture clear photos in well-lit conditions. While it may not compete with higher-end camera systems, it provides the essentials for casual photography.
One of the biggest highlights of the Redmi 15R 5G is its 6000mAh graphite battery, which Xiaomi says can last up to 1.9 days on a single charge. This makes it a reliable companion for heavy users, travelers, or those who don’t want to worry about charging their phone frequently.
The Redmi 15R 5G runs on HyperOS 2, Xiaomi’s new skin based on Android 15. The software brings user-friendly additions such as extra-large font mode for better readability and 200% boosted speaker output for louder audio. Another practical feature is the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack, which many budget buyers still appreciate.
Xiaomi has positioned the Redmi 15R 5G as an affordable 5G smartphone, starting at just 1,099 yuan (around INR 12999). Multiple configurations are available to cater to different needs:
With its combination of a high-capacity battery, smooth display, and budget-friendly pricing, the Redmi 15R 5G strengthens Xiaomi’s foothold in the entry-level 5G smartphone segment in China.
