Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has quietly introduced the Redmi Note 14S, making it available without any major announcements. The smartphone has been officially listed on the company’s Czech Republic website, confirming all specifications. At first glance, it may seem like a fresh release, but in reality, the Note 14S is just a slightly refreshed version of the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G, which debuted in January last year.
The Redmi Note 14S brings only a couple of noticeable changes. The back design has been slightly tweaked, and the device is marginally lighter, weighing 179 grams compared to its predecessor’s 188 grams. Other than that, the phone remains nearly identical to the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G.
Despite featuring a powerful Helio G99 Ultra chipset, the phone remains limited to 4G connectivity. Additionally, Xiaomi has not clarified which version of its HyperOS the phone runs, leaving some ambiguity regarding software updates.
While the camera setup remains impressive, the 2MP macro sensor doesn’t add much value. On the plus side, the phone does feature an under-display optical fingerprint scanner for quick unlocking.
One minor yet noteworthy upgrade is the improved dust and water resistance. The Redmi Note 14S now boasts an IP64 rating, a step up from the IP54 certification found in its predecessor.
The Redmi Note 14S is available in three color variants—blue, black, and purple. It is currently priced at 5,999 CZK (approximately $260) for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model in the Czech Republic.
Redmi’s decision to quietly launch the Note 14S without any major improvements suggests that it is merely a rebranded version of last year’s model. With minimal changes apart from the design tweaks and slight weight reduction, users might not find enough reasons to upgrade if they already own the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G. However, for those looking for a solid mid-range smartphone with a high-resolution camera and fast charging, the Note 14S still holds some appeal.
