Redmi has officially begun lifting the curtain on the standard Redmi Turbo 5 after spending the past few days highlighting the more powerful Turbo 5 Max. Through a series of official posters, the company has now confirmed several key specifications of the Turbo 5, giving a clearer picture of where it will sit in Redmi’s lineup and what users can expect from the device.
Redmi has confirmed that the Turbo 5 will feature a 6.59-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. This screen size positions the phone as a more compact alternative to the Turbo 5 Max, while still offering sharp visuals and vibrant colors suitable for daily use, gaming, and media consumption.
In terms of build, the Redmi Turbo 5 comes with a metal frame and a 2.5D glass back panel, giving it a premium look and feel. Official images suggest that the device will be available in white and mint green color options, offering a clean and modern aesthetic.
At the core of the Redmi Turbo 5 is the Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset. Redmi has paired this processor with LPDDR5x Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, signaling flagship-grade performance hardware despite its upper mid-range positioning.
The smartphone was recently spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking platform, where it appeared with 16GB of RAM and Android 16. The final retail version is expected to ship with HyperOS 3 layered on top of Android, bringing Redmi’s latest software features and optimizations.
To keep performance stable during intensive tasks, Redmi has equipped the Turbo 5 with a 3D Ice-Sealed Circulation Cooling Pump. According to the brand, this system delivers up to three times the heat dissipation compared to traditional vapor chamber cooling solutions. This should help maintain consistent performance during gaming sessions and prolonged usage.
Battery life is one of the standout features of the Redmi Turbo 5. The phone houses a large battery rated at around 7,560mAh, which should comfortably support extended usage on a single charge. Despite the massive battery, Redmi has ensured fast charging support, with 100W wired charging confirmed.
In addition, the Turbo 5 also supports 27W reverse charging, allowing it to power accessories or even other devices when needed.
In China, the Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to be priced at around 2,000 Yuan, which roughly translates to $290. This pricing places the device firmly in the upper mid-range segment, offering near-flagship hardware at a relatively aggressive price point.
According to industry rumors, the Redmi Turbo 5 may remain exclusive to the Chinese market. However, its specifications are expected to live on globally under a different name. The device is rumored to be rebranded as the Poco X8 Pro for international markets.
Similarly, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max is expected to launch alongside the Turbo 5 in China and could make its way to global markets as the Poco X8 Pro Max or Poco X8 Max. While Redmi and Poco have yet to confirm these details, such rebranding strategies have been used frequently in the past.
With a high-resolution OLED display, a powerful Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset, advanced cooling, and a massive battery with fast charging, the Redmi Turbo 5 is shaping up to be a compelling upper mid-range smartphone.
