Vivo has officially launched its new budget-friendly 5G smartphones — Vivo Y50 5G and Vivo Y50m 5G — in China. These two handsets are nearly identical in design and specs, targeting users who want long battery life, modern performance, and 5G connectivity at an affordable price. Let's take a deeper look at what these devices bring to the table.
Both the Vivo Y50 5G and Y50m 5G feature a 6.74-inch HD+ LCD display with a 1600 x 720 resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and 20:9 aspect ratio. The screen includes a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera and is complemented by a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security.

Aesthetic choices are simple yet elegant, with color options like Platinum White, Sky Blue, and Diamond Black available. Each phone carries an IP64 rating, making it resistant to dust and light splashes, and the chassis measures 167.3 x 76.95 x 8.19mm, weighing 204 grams.
Under the hood, both devices are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, a power-efficient 5G SoC ideal for daily tasks and smooth app performance. The smartphones offer up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB storage, with most variants utilizing UFS 2.2 for faster data speeds. However, the 6GB + 128GB version comes with eMMC 5.1 storage.
On the software side, both phones run on Android-based OriginOS 5, providing a clean and user-friendly interface.

In the camera department, simplicity is key. Both the Y50 5G and Y50m 5G sport a 13MP single rear camera, capable of capturing decent images under good lighting. For selfies and video calls, there's a 5MP front-facing camera housed within the waterdrop notch.
Battery life is one of the standout features of the Y50 series. With a 6000mAh battery, users can easily expect more than a day of usage even with moderate to heavy tasks. Charging is quick, thanks to 44W fast charging support, and the phones also support reverse charging, allowing them to act as a power bank for other devices.
Connectivity features include dual-SIM 5G, Bluetooth 5.4, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, IR blaster, USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack — a rare find in many modern phones. These inclusions ensure a complete experience for multimedia, navigation, and day-to-day usage.
The Vivo Y50 5G is available in four configurations:
The Vivo Y50m 5G skips the 4GB model and offers three options:
Both models are now available in China and come in Platinum White, Sky Blue, and Diamond Black.
The Vivo Y50 5G and Y50m 5G aim to dominate the affordable 5G smartphone space with reliable specs, huge battery life, and a decent display. Though not camera-focused, these devices check most boxes for a daily driver in 2025. For users who prioritize performance and battery over everything else, the Y50 series is a compelling option.
