Vivo is gearing up to introduce a new addition to its popular Y series in China, and this one is all about power and durability. The company has officially confirmed that the Vivo Y500 will make its debut on September 1, with its headline feature being an enormous 8200mAh battery — the largest battery Vivo has ever put in a smartphone.
Battery life has always been a key selling point in the Y series, but the Y500 takes it to a whole new level. Vivo claims this is their longest-lasting battery yet, designed for users who demand more than just a day’s worth of usage. This massive power pack positions the Y500 as a reliable choice for heavy users, travelers, and those who want a phone that won’t quit on them.
The Vivo Y500 isn’t just about staying powered up — it’s also built tough. The device carries IP69+, IP69, and IP68 ratings, ensuring top-tier water and dust resistance. On top of that, it has earned the SGS Gold Label five-star certification for drop and impact resistance, and has successfully passed military-standard environmental tests. In short, Vivo is marketing the Y500 as one of its most rugged smartphones to date, capable of withstanding daily wear and tear in harsher environments.
The company has shared a teaser showcasing the design of the upcoming smartphone. The Y500 features a punch-hole display on the front and a dual-camera setup at the back, accompanied by a ring-shaped LED flash. Vivo is also offering three color variants — Black, Blue, and Violet — giving users a mix of classic and vibrant options.
While Vivo has not yet revealed the full hardware details, trusted tipster Digital Chat Station has provided insights into what’s coming under the hood. The Vivo Y500 is expected to be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 processor, a step up from the Dimensity 6300 found in the Y300. It will retain a 120Hz FHD+ OLED display for smooth visuals and an immersive viewing experience.
In terms of cameras, the device is tipped to house a 50MP primary rear sensor paired with a secondary lens, while selfies and video calls will be handled by an 8MP front-facing camera.
With the official launch just days away, Vivo is positioning the Y500 as a smartphone that blends long-lasting power with unmatched durability. Pricing details and availability outside of China remain under wraps, but more information is expected once the phone goes official on September 1.
For now, the Vivo Y500 looks set to make a mark as the toughest and most power-packed Y series device yet.
