Xiaomi appears to be moving quickly on its next-generation T-series smartphone. After launching the Xiaomi 15T and 15T Pro in September last year, early leaks have now started surfacing around the upcoming Xiaomi 17T. The latest information comes from the same source that previously revealed battery details of the Poco X8 Pro series, and it is said to be extracted directly from HyperOS 3 code, lending it more credibility.
While the launch is still months away, these early details give a clear idea of Xiaomi’s strategy with the 17T.
According to the leak, the Xiaomi 17T will retain the same camera configuration as its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15T. The phone is expected to feature a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, ensuring steady shots and better low-light performance. Alongside it will be a 50MP telephoto camera offering 2x optical zoom, which should be useful for portraits and everyday zoom photography.
The setup is rounded off by a 12MP ultra-wide camera, designed to capture landscapes and group shots. While the hardware doesn’t represent a major upgrade on paper, Xiaomi may still improve image quality through software optimizations and HyperOS-level processing.
One of the more noticeable upgrades comes in the battery department. The Xiaomi 17T is tipped to pack a 6,500mAh battery, which is a significant 1,000mAh increase over the 15T. This jump should translate into noticeably better battery life, especially for users who rely heavily on their phones throughout the day.
Despite the larger battery, charging speeds are expected to remain unchanged. The phone will reportedly support 67W wired fast charging, which should still be fast enough to top up the large battery in a reasonable amount of time.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 17T is said to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC, marking a clear step up from the Dimensity 8400 used in the Xiaomi 15T. This upgrade should bring better overall performance, improved power efficiency, and stronger support for gaming and AI-driven features.
While other performance-related details such as RAM and storage options are not yet known, the new chipset alone suggests a noticeable boost over the previous generation.
At the moment, these are all the details that have surfaced about the Xiaomi 17T. Since the device is expected to launch around September, there is still plenty of time for more information to emerge, including display specifications, software features, and pricing.
