Xiaomi has expanded its smart home appliance lineup with the launch of the Mijia Liangbaikai Water Purifier in China. This advanced desktop water purifier blends traditional Chinese water-drinking habits with cutting-edge purification and smart features, setting a new benchmark in domestic water purification technology. Currently available for pre-order on JD.com for 2,699 yuan (approx. $376), it will officially go on sale at midnight on July 15.
The name Liangbaikai refers to water that has been boiled and then cooled to room temperature, a time-honored Chinese practice considered healthier and gentler on the digestive system. Xiaomi brings this tradition into the modern age with a product that boils water to 100°C, then rapidly cools it using an internal heat exchanger — offering safe, purified, temperature-adjustable water on demand.
One of the standout features of the Mijia Liangbaikai Water Purifier is its precise temperature control, allowing users to customize water temperatures from 40°C to 95°C. Whether you need lukewarm water for baby formula or hot water for brewing tea, the purifier delivers it instantly and safely.
At the core of its purification system is a six-stage filtration process, including a PPC composite filter and a 100G RO membrane with 0.0001-micron precision. This setup effectively removes bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, chlorine, and other harmful substances.
To ensure long-term efficiency, the device features a dynamic rinsing system that tracks water usage and automatically flushes the RO membrane, which can last up to three years. There’s also a manual rinse option, useful after long periods of inactivity.
Understanding the needs of families, Xiaomi has ensured that all water pathways in the Liangbaikai purifier are BPA-free and silicone-free, meeting mother-and-baby-grade safety standards. It includes a UV-sterilized 1.2-liter purified water tank that is physically separated from the 4-liter raw water tank and 1.8-liter wastewater tank, effectively preventing contamination or backflow.
The purifier features a 5-inch full-color display on the front panel, showing essential metrics like:
It also supports NFC functionality, allowing you to tag cups or bottles with custom presets for volume and temperature. Just tap and dispense with one touch — ideal for families with varying water needs.
Users can remotely control the purifier using the Mijia App, enabling real-time monitoring of filter life, water quality, and temperature adjustments in 1°C increments. The system operates quietly, maintaining a noise level of just 51.1 dB(A) thanks to dual-layer noise reduction.
What’s more, it’s designed to be cost-efficient, consuming only 0.2 yuan (~$0.028) per day, making it an eco-conscious choice for daily use.
The Xiaomi Mijia Liangbaikai Water Purifier is now open for pre-orders on JD.com and will be officially available from midnight on July 15. Priced at 2,699 yuan (~$376), it combines traditional wellness wisdom with smart technology to deliver a safe, personalized hydration experience for modern households.
