ZTE has officially announced the launch of its latest smartphone, the nubia Air 5G, on September 5, 2025. Positioned as a sleek mid-range 5G phone, it combines modern design with a lightweight build and a competitive price point. With Android 15 out of the box, an AMOLED 120Hz display, and IP68/IP69K durability, the nubia Air 5G is set to grab attention among users looking for a stylish yet powerful daily driver.
The nubia Air 5G is impressively slim at just 6.7mm thick and weighs only 172g, making it one of the lightest 5G devices in its segment. The phone is built for durability with IP68/IP69K dust and water resistance, capable of handling high-pressure water jets and submersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. It comes in two striking finishes – Titanium Black and Titanium Desert.
At the front, users are greeted with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and peaks at an incredible 4500 nits brightness, ensuring excellent visibility even under direct sunlight. The 1224 x 2720 pixel resolution with a 20:9 aspect ratio provides sharp visuals at ~440 ppi density. Protection comes from Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, adding durability against scratches and drops.
Under the hood, the nubia Air 5G is powered by the Unisoc T8300 (6nm) chipset, paired with an octa-core CPU (2x2.2 GHz Cortex-A78 & 6x2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) and Mali-G57 MP2 GPU. The phone offers 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, with no card slot for expansion. Running on Android 15, it ensures smooth multitasking, improved battery efficiency, and enhanced privacy features.
The dual rear camera setup consists of a 50MP wide primary sensor with PDAF and a 2MP depth lens, supported by LED flash. For video, it supports up to 1080p at 30fps. On the front, a 20MP selfie camera handles video calls and selfies with clarity.
Although the 3.5mm headphone jack is absent, ZTE compensates with HiFi 4 DSP sound technology, delivering rich audio through its loudspeakers and wireless headphones. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and GPS with GALILEO and GLONASS. Charging and data transfer are supported via USB Type-C 2.0.
The nubia Air 5G comes with a 5000 mAh battery, supported by 33W fast charging, offering a reliable balance between endurance and quick top-ups.
The nubia Air 5G is expected to launch at an attractive price starting from $279 in the US, making it a solid contender in the mid-range 5G category.
