Google has expanded its audio lineup with the launch of the Pixel Buds 2a, bringing premium features like Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), a lightweight design, and eco-friendly materials at an affordable price point. The new earbuds will be available starting October 9, priced at $129 in the US and ₹12,999 in India.
The Pixel Buds 2a borrow design cues from Google’s flagship Buds Pro 2 but in a smaller and lighter form factor. Each earbud weighs just 4.7 grams, making them comfortable for long listening sessions. Google has added stabilizing wings with a twist-to-fit mechanism, designed using fit data from over 45 million ear scans. Available in Iris (purple) and Hazel (grey), the buds are also IP54-rated, offering resistance against sweat and splashes.
One of the biggest upgrades is the arrival of ANC in Google’s A-Series. Using Silent Seal 1.5, the Buds 2a actively adapt to your ear shape to block out external noise. When you need awareness, the transparency mode kicks in, letting in outside sounds naturally.
The Pixel Buds 2a come equipped with redesigned 11mm drivers, powered by the Tensor A1 chip, ensuring balanced audio performance. Users also get a five-band EQ for personalized sound and spatial audio support for an immersive listening experience.
For calls, each earbud features dual microphones with wind-blocking mesh and AI-powered noise reduction, ensuring clear voice quality even in noisy environments. Connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 5.4 with Super Wideband, offering stable connections and the ability to pair with multiple devices. Pixel phone owners will also benefit from seamless pairing integration.
Battery performance is another highlight, with up to 7 hours of playback with ANC enabled. Combined with the charging case, users can expect around 20 hours of total use. A quick 5-minute charge delivers an extra hour of playtime, ideal for those on the go. Notably, the charging case is lighter than before and comes with a replaceable battery, a rare but welcome feature in wireless earbuds.
Google has emphasized sustainability in the Pixel Buds 2a. The earbuds use 41% recycled materials, with 100% recycled magnets, solder, and batteries. Even the packaging is plastic-free, further reflecting Google’s eco-conscious direction.
Beyond audio, the Pixel Buds 2a integrate tightly with Google’s ecosystem. Touch controls allow for easy playback and volume management, while quick access to Google Gemini makes them more than just music accessories. Additionally, the Find Hub feature helps locate misplaced earbuds, reducing the frustration of lost pairs.
The Pixel Buds 2a will be available globally from October 9 at $129 in the US and ₹12,999 in India. With ANC, long battery life, and a recycled design, they bring many premium features at a competitive price point.
The Pixel Buds 2a strike an excellent balance between affordability and features. With ANC, strong battery life, and an eco-friendly design, they make premium audio more accessible without compromising on comfort or performance. For $129, they’re a strong contender in the mid-range earbuds market, especially for Pixel phone users. In related news Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold Launched with Tensor G5 and IP68 Rating.
